Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Data on population of 25,541 residents aged 23 years and over who have not been recorded for electronic ID cards (KTP-el) in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, will be deactivated.

Head of the Kotabaru Civil Registry and Demography Agency (Disdukcapil) Ahmad Fitriadi here Wednesday said data deactivation would be carried out if the concerned residents do not record them self for KTP-el until the end of December 2018.

"The data is not deleted, but it is assumed that there are no more, either because they have passed away or moved to a domicile but not reported. If one day they come, the data can be reactivated," said Fitriadi.

This policy aims to enable the government to calculate the real population, while at the same time motivating the public to immediately handling the population documents, especially KTP-el.

Especially if it is related to the implementation of the 2019 Election, people who have not recorded KTP-el will lose their voting rights.

"This is one of the government's efforts so that people play an active role, not only the government that actively asks the community to have population documents, but the public consciously takes care of it," said Fitriadi.

The agency has compiled data on residents aged 23 years and over who have not recorded KTP-el and will immediately be socialized to all subdistricts.

Subsequently, the sub-district is expected to convey the data to the community through the urban villages government and neighborhood units (RT) until they record KTP-el in the sub-district office and the Disdukcapil.
