Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Dayak Meratus figure Amil from Loksado, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), received an award from the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Effendy as a traditional figure in literacy education for Remote Indigenous Communities (KAT).

Head of the HSS Education Agency Nordiansyah in Kandangan, Sunday (9/9), said the award was given at the national-level commemoration of International Literacy Day in Lubuk Pakam, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Saturday (8/9).

"Thank God, the Dayak Meratus traditional leader from HSS received an award from the Minister of Education and Culture for his efforts to fully support the government's program in eradicating illiteracy in Loksado Subdistrict," he said via telephone.

This award is expected to further empower traditional leaders and local residents to participate in helping the government and encourage citizens in remote areas to eradicate illiteracy.

If there are still illiterate people to be invited to basic literacy activities held at the local adat hall, it is hoped that in the future there will be no more residents in remote areas who are illiterate.

In addition to receiving the award, Amil who was accompanied by the HSS Education official received an invitation to attend a KAT Basic Literacy (KD) development workshop organized by the ministry through the Directorate General of PAUD (Early Childhood Education) and Dikmas (Public Education).
