Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) through state-run logistics firm Perum Bulog and state-owned tin miner PT Timah Tbk disbursed Rp4.7 billion to help the people in South Kalimantan.


"Various forms of assistance target the fulfillment of basic needs of the people who are indeed worthy of being assisted," said Director of Operations and Public Services of Perum Bulog Tri Wahyudi Saleh here.

The handover of the BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri 2018 (SOEs Present for the Nation) program assistance took place after the 73rd Indonesian Independence Day ceremony by all BUMN employees in South Kalimantan in the Citraland residential green open space, Friday morning.

The assistance includes providing repairs or provision of school infrastructure, scholarships for elementary to secondary schools, provision of clean water facilities, electrification, making public toilets (MCK), rehab of employees' homes and communities, cash-intensive work, community empowerment and construction of public infrastructure.

"In addition, this year Bulog and PT Timah are also appointed as organizers of the Siswa Mengenal Nusantara (SMN) or Students Know Archipelago program for students from Banten and South Kalimantan, each of 23 students exchanging visits for 7 days," explained Tri Wahyudi Saleh accompanied by PT Timah Tbk's Director of Business and Commerce Development Trenggono Sutioso.

One of the recipients of the MCK assistance Masradi said he was happy and grateful. He hopes that with this assistance a healthy and clean environment in his area will be realized.

The head of Neighborhood Unit (RT) 04 Sungai Lulut Urban Village, East Banjarmasin, said there are 50 public toilets built in his area and all residents are very enthusiastic in welcoming the concern of the BUMN.

"Hopefully BUMN will be more successful and continue to help small communities like us. Of course, this assistance is a blessing for the residents of Sungai Lulut," he said.
