Kandangan, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - The Government of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) through Agricultural Agency is promoting the movement of rice planting on swampy lowland marked by planting by Acting Regent H Dahnial Kifli together with Banua Hanyar Villagers in South Daha Subdistrict.
Head of the agency Fathurrahman in Banua Hanyar, Wednesday (11/7), said this location is one of the Special Effort of Rice, Corn, Soybean (Upsus Pajale) area which is targeted to cover 5411 hectares in 2018 in HSS.
"Until now 5,074 hectares have been planted in lebak (swampy lowlands) area, the rest is ready to be planted until completed in mid-August 2018 and the harvest is expected in December 2018 until January 2019," he said when delivering the report.
Dahnial Kifli said he welcomes rice planting activities in lebak land in Banua Hanyar. Promoting the rice planting movement in this swampy lowlands is very important in supporting the availability of food in the district.
According to him, this activity is also aligned with the common goal to achieve food self-sufficiency in HSS, through the acceleration of harvesting, utilization of sleeping land, new paddy fields so it is expected to increase agriculture productivity.
Parents, especially farmers, are expected to guide their sons and daughters to love farming activities. Without successors of the farmers, food as one of the basic necessities will be scarce.
"With the existence of the farmers, especially for our region HSS which source of livelihood is the most farmers, it will be able to support development in our area," he said.
DPRD HSS Speaker H Akhmad Fahmi, 1003 Kandangan District Military Commander Lieutenant Colonel Suhardi Aji Sriwijayanto, Assistant of Administration, Development and Social H.Hubriansyah, and heads of agencies (SKPD), South Daha Subdistrict Head H. Ahmad Sapuan, and Banua Hanyar villagers were attending the event.
