Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Nearly 50 percent of hajj pilgrims candidate who leave each year from Central Hulu Sungai (HST) District are civil servants (PNS) from teachers, an official said.
"Similarly, civil servants in HST who mostly own new cars are teachers," said Head of HST Education Agency H Riduan during the halal bihalal (a gathering tradition usually after Idul Fitri) event of PGRI (Indonesian Teachers Association) of BAS subdistrict in elementary school SDN 2 Birayang on Thursday (5/7).
Now, according to him, the welfare of teachers, especially civil servants, are guaranteed, especially those husband and wife who hold certification.
"In the near future, the 13th salary allowance and meal allowance for teachers amounting to Rp7,500 per day will also be disbursed immediately," said the agency head.
Furthermore, Riduan explained that the HST Government has recruited contract teachers and there are some priorities. Namely those who serving in remote and very remote areas and who have been in charge for 10 years are preferred.
"The school regroup program will start in August 2018, but teachers do not need to worry because it will be tailored to the school nearest to teachers," he said.
Acting Regent of HST H A Chairansyah also conveyed with the welfare of the teachers now in order to improve their ability and dedication in their role of educating the next generation.
"The role of teachers is not enough to educate their students to be smart, but also to shape their morals and personality for the better," he said.
The PGRI members of BAS Subdistrict as many as 307 people and seven of them are retired teachers. While four of this PGRI member will leave for the Holy Land as hajj candidates this year.
