Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The rehabilitation and expansion project of Gusti Syamsir Alam Stagen Airport terminal, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, will be continued.

The airport manager Prio Budiono in Kotabaru on Tuesday said the continuation of the work is planned after Eid. "Currently in the stage of determining the winning bidder," he said.

The Rp10 billion project is targeted to be completed this year. Previously in 2017 the contract was forced to be terminated because of the contractor's work was considered unfeasible.

"For one reason or another the contract was terminated when the job was realized by 50 percent," Prio said.

He explained that the rehabilitation was done because the terminal building, built in 1974, is worn-out. Condition of the service facilities were very less.

According to the circular letter of the Minister of Transportation, the VIP must be built together with the terminal. While the VIP building now is separate from the terminal.

The new Gusti Syamsir Alam Airport Terminal will have an area of 1,692 square meters. This is twice of the current terminal which is only 750 square meters.

"The capacity of passengers will increase by about three times from the present capacity of about 700 people," Prio added.

Along with the expansion of the terminal building, the service facilities will be improved. Starting from the more spacious departure room, lounge for special guests who want more service, to escalators at the check in facility.

"The waiting room is more spacious because during the first design we expect Garuda Indonesia to enter, then the lounge facilities, check in facilities will also be added," Prio concluded.
