Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Penitentiary Class IIB Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, holds a Pesantren Ramadan in the hope faith and piety of the inmates increase.
The Pesantren Ramadhan or Islamic Teaching in Ramadan is held for 10 days and participated by 60 Moslems inmates. Here they are taught about the basic knowledge of Islam, such as the practice of wudu and bathing the corpse.
"Actually we also want a lot participants, but the limitations of the place if taken all the place is not enough. So from some rooms taken representatives," said Head Prison Suhartomo in Kotabaru on Tuesday.
Kotabaru prison has 1,093 inmates or six time of actual capacity of only 180 inmates.
Because not all the targeted inmates have the opportunity to attend Pesantren Ramadan, it is expected that the knowledge gained by the participants can be transmitted to their peers.
"Besides beneficial to the concerned, the knowledge gained can be transmitted to other inmates," Suhartomo added.
He hopes, through Pesantren Ramadan faith and piety of citizens built to Allah all the Mighty can improve and improve themselves when they are outside, at least for internal family.
"I think the most effective medicine for them is the spiritual approach, because the broken is not the body but morals," said Suhartomo.
