Tanjung, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Suka Maju Farmers Group built by Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation in Kambitin Village, Tabalong District, has successfully developed organic vegetables by using the sleeping or arid land.
"We want to motivate people to prefer organic vegetables as well as to improve the farmers welfare," said YABN Director Okty Damayanti at the organic vegetable harvest party with Suka Maju Farmers Group in Wikau Village, Tanjung Sub-district, Saturday.
By utilizing previously unfertile land, the farmers group successfully developed various organic vegetables, such as eggplant, tomato, spinach and kale.
For the processing of land, he said, YABN cooperates with PT Kamadjaja Logistik which provides mixing material for cow manure.
More proud is Aston Tanjung Hotel ready to buy organic vegetable produced by Suka Maju Farmers Group.
"From the previously barren land can now produce organic vegetables and Aston Hotel is willing to buy it," explains Okty.
Representing Tabalong government Acting Administrative Assistant Nanang Mulkani expressed his appreciation for the success of farmers developing organic vegetables.
Gatot Suwarno of the Suka Maju Farmers Group said they previously used chemicals to farm, but then interested in developing healthier and easier organic vegetables.
"We are trying to reduce the use of chemicals by trying organic crops," explains Gatot.
Gatot also invites other farmers in Tabalong to develop organic farming as well as utilizing abandoned land.
