Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - South Kalimantan's mining export, especially coal, during 2017 has reached 132 million tons, up from 128 million tons in 2016.

Head of Foreign Trade Section of the South Kalimantan Trade AgencyRiaharti Zulfahani here on Wednesday said the increase has far exceeded the targets set by the central government.

She said, the increase in mining exports, especially coal, was driven by the improved mining prices in various importing countries.

Previously, the coal price fell to about US$ 50 per ton, now the global price stands between US$ 90 and US$ 100 per ton.

This increase made the value of its exports, particularly from the mining sector, significantly increased to US$6.4 billion, up from US$ 4.9 billion in 2016.

Of this amount, the export value of coal mines, enough to dominate, even most of the export value from coal mining.

While the total value of South Kalimantan's exports during 2017 reached US$8.1 billion more, up from 2016 amounted to US$6.2 billion more, or up about 29 percent more.

"Actually our export value is targeted by the central government to rise by about five percent per year, but now it reached 29 percent, very good," she said.
