Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The South Kalimantan Council for National Handicrafts (Dekranasda) keeps accelerating its program. Now the handicraft industry here has absorbed up to 39,814 workers, mostly women.


The South Kalimantan Council for National Handicrafts Chairwoman Hj Raudhatul Jannah Sahbirin Noor in Banjarmasin on Friday said based on data the number of handicrafts business in South Kalimantan in 2017 as many as 19,907.

The increase, she added, can not be separated from guidance and coaching from the Dekranasda.

"We continue to accelerate Dekranasda programs, especially in the development of the quality of the handicraft industry," she said.

Dekranasda either provincial, districts and cities, she said, continue to improve the various handicraft products, especially those based on natural resources around the neighborhood.

Such as the purun (rush used for basket weaving) and water hyacinth plant, which have now been in large demand both from domestic and abroad.

In addition, each district is now competing to develop a distinctive fabric of each region, by exploring the potential that exists. Through these distinctive fabrics, the region strives to highlight the treasures of the region's natural wealth with scratches on the fabric.

Previously, Chairwoman of the Council for National Handicrafts Indonesia (Dekranas) Hj Mufidah Jusuf who came to Banjarmasin, expressed gratitude and amazed at the wealth of people's handicrafts owned by South Kalimantan.

According to Mufidah, Dekranasda as a partner of the government has a strategic role to conduct coaching for the progress of local handicrafts.

Related to that, she added, Dekranasda is important to continue to make creative innovations, both in the form of guidance and management training of business governance.
