Batulicin, S Kalimantan (AntaranuwsKalsel) - The state junior high school SMPN 4 Simpang Empat in Tanah Bumbu District teaches its students to develop creative economics by providing training on how to make chips from cassava and banana.


The principal of SMPN 4 Simpang Empat Marwanto through pre-work education teacher Anita Listiani in Batulicin on Sunday said the lesson will be applied in the academic year of 2018/2019 with the aim that students will be able to live independently with business entrepreneurship.

"In the future, the students are able to become creative and innovative citizens, able to open employment, so as to improve the family's economy," he said.

He explains, in developing this creative economy the students are taught to utilize the yard in the school that is still empty to plant cassava and bananas. If the plants have been fruitful, then the fruit can be harvested to be processed into various flavor chips.

So far the manufacturing process is still in small scale and manual, from the early stages of cassava and banana harvest, how to harvest the fruit until processing into chips.

While the chips is still marketed in the school environment. In the future it will be marketed to stores in Tanah Bumbu.
