Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) incised a new history, the Rector Prof. Dr. H Sutarto Hadi held a strategic position as Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Rector Forum (FRI) for a period of 2018-2019.
"Never before has a college rector in South Kalimantan become FRI leader and Alhamdulillah I am trusted to be Vice Chairman," Sutarto said on Tuesday.
With his current position at FRI, Sutarto wants ULM to be at the forefront of every important agenda of higher education.
"For example relating to budget policy, of course, we must also be able to get an adequate portion for the development of the campus," he explained.
Especially now, he said, the higher education sector continues to grow along with the development of technology and information by producing online-based learning system (e-learning).
Then the world is also facing changes in production patterns based on technological advances. The so-called 'Industrial Revolution 4.0' change, according to Sutarto, must be addressed by ULM in order not to be left behind.
"ULM must take strategic steps in order to move faster and in line with other universities in Indonesia," he said.
On the other hand, since it was founded in 1998 in Bandung at the rectors meeting from across Indonesia at Sasana Budaya Ganesha Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), FRI became a forum for gathering thousands of university executives throughout the archipelago.
Because of the prestigious and strategic presence of FRI, the Annual Convention of FRI was always attended by the head of state, including the XIV Campus Convention and the 20th FRI Annual Meeting in 2018 on 17-18 February at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) Makassar will be attended by President Joko Widodo.
"I and the Chairman Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu with the members of the Board of Trustees of the FRI on January 25 held a meeting to prepare the convention, including discussing the audience with Mr. President later," Sutarto said.
In addition to the President, the convention that will be attended by about 4,000 college leaders also invited Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Minister of Public Works and Housing Dr. Ir Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono and of course Minister of Research Technology and Higher Education M Nasir.
