Paringin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The handling of outer sills or wings of the Pitap dam project in Nungka Village, Awayan

Sub-district, Balangan, which was hit by a landslide some time ago, is still waiting for normal water discharge.

Operations Staff of PT Brantas Abipraya, Medio, and Yus Rizal, told Antara News Agency on Monday temporary handling was done by using

jumbo bag to prevent erosion of water accumulated to the wing side.

"If repaired at this time it is not possible, the plan is using jumbo bag for the moment. When the water discharge is reduced we will do reparation," he explained.

According to Yuz Rizal, if the water gate is closed temporarily for repair will affect the settlement of the people in the upper river.

"If we close the water gates, it causes floods," he said, adding that the condition of the water debit is quite a lot like nowadays

it can only be handled temporarily with a jumbo bag.

Meanwhile, in front of the water gate there is soil sediment and so forth, thus creating a whirlpool. It should be immediately dealt with by bringing an amphibian excavator.

"The sediments are cleared by using the amphibian excavator we bring, so the whirlpool is no more, and it does not cause erosion or impact to the outer wall of the dam," he explained.

According to him, several handling options have been proposed, but have not been approved by the Hall of Kalimantan River (BWS) II.

Pitap dam is one of the new irrigation area development programs in South Kalimantan.
