Martapura, South Kalimantan 23/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Government of Banjar District, South Kalimantan, optimizes the plantation and livestock sectors to improve the welfare of local communities.


"The plantation and livestock sector will be more optimized so that the farmers and the community will be more prosperous," said Head of Plantation and Livestock Agency Dondit Subekti in Martapura on Monday.

He said it was in line with the vision and mission of the Regent Khalilurrahman and Vice Regent Saidi Mansyur that is to realize a more prosperous society and get barokah for the effort they are engaged in.

According to him, the extent of plantation land in Banjar reaches 91,860 hectares, but the land is still not utilized by the community maximally for their welfare. It just 70,055 hectares have been planted with various productive plantation crops, such as rubber, palm, coconut, and coffee.

"The optimization of plantation land is continuously improved so that the production of crops such as rubber, palm oil, coconut, and coffee can increase and affect the increase of people's welfare," he said.

While in the livestock sector is still relying on the national cattle herd through its artificial insemination (Upsus SIWAB) program.

"Upsus Siwab program continues to be developed, so farmers can increase the population of livestock as well as meet the needs of meat for local and outside the region," he said.

According to him, the potential of widespread natural resources in the district continues to be developed so that the plantation and animal husbandry sectors are increasing welfare.
