Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 20/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The search for a victim of a sinking racing ship in the waters of Kayu Tinggi, Hanyar River Estuary, Kelumpang Utara Subdistrict, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is still nil.


"We have conducted a search of the scene around Pudi waters up to three miles from the location point," Kotabaru Post and SAR Coordinator Teguh Prasetyo said on Friday.

The search was conducted by a joint team from Basarnas, the police, the Navy, assisted by volunteers and the public.

"The second day is still the same, the area we expand to be about five miles," he explained.

The search area will continue to widen to the northeast and to the north in the direction of the wind.

Over the past two days, SAR operations have been experiencing difficulties due to conditions in the rocky search area, hampering movement during low tide. In addition, the team faced severe weather and high waves and strong winds.

"The member information in the field the wave is about 1-2 meters, while the wind speed is 15 knots," said Teguh.

Earlier on Tuesday (17/10) at 17:00 pm a race ship with five adults and two small children on board had an accident in the waters of Kayu Tinggi.

The ship departed from Kotabaru to Sekandis Village, South Pamukan Sub-district. When half the trip, the ship hit by the waves to sink.

Because there is no safety equipment, passengers who fall into the sea survive by holding whatever objects are floating. One of them successfully approached the land, then asked for help from the local community.

Six victims were rescued, Syamsul Bahri (39), Ruse (42), Deni (8), Syarifuddin (25), Sitah, and Syahruji (3). While one person on behalf of Minah (40) has not known.
