Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 25/9 (AntaranewsKalsel) - The city government of Banjarmasin plan to build the old city as an object of tourism in Sungai Jingah, North Banjarmasin, will be assisted by the provincial government of South Kalimantan.

 
Head of North Banjarmasin Sub-district Apiluddin was speaking at a special plenary meeting of the local council (DPRD) in commemorating the 491st Anniversary of Banjarmasin City on Monday.

According to him, the provincial government will provide about Rp500 million assistance in 2018 to make improvements to the area of the Sungai Jingah.

"The provincial government includes the development of the old city as a provincial tourism program, that we get from the provincial government," Apiluddin told.

While the sub-district government, he admitted, has conducted various socialization and meetings with local community leaders for the success of this program.

"Essentially, most of the people are very supportive of their area of residence to be built as an old city tour," he said.

In the Sungai Jingah, there are still many old houses Banjar typical as a valuable heritage still being treated and inhabited by their successors. This old village is adjacent to the Martapura River, which divides the city of Banjarmasin.

"Some piers planned to be built in the area as it is part of the river cruising tour route," he said.

Previously, Head of Culture and Tourism Agency Ikhsan Alhaq stated, Sungai Jingah will be built in synergy with other tourist objects so that inter-tourism object can live together with the continuity of growing the economy evenly.
