Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 15/9 (AntaranewsKalsel) - An inmate at the Class IIB Kotabaru Penitentiary was killed with a number of injuries allegedly as a result of violence.


Head of the Kotabaru Prison Security Unit Rahmat Pijati here on Thursday (14/9) said the victim, Sugianto (35), a prisoner from Tanah Bumbu District, is serving a sentence for a sexual harassment case.

"There is not a bit of a commotion, there are many security members in the post," he told.

He said that day at 13:00 pm there was a shift of the morning to the afternoon guard. When the officers held a ceremony in Block B, the victim was asked to count the number of inmates.

"The victim said the number was complete, but when the officer checked directly, it was known from 87 prisoners in Block B one inmate was not in place," said Jati.

In the midst of searching for the prisoner disappeared, finally found. Four inmates out of block B while carrying a dying victim.

The victim was taken to the clinic for help, then rushed to Kotabaru District General Hospital.

Around 15.30 pm the victim died. From the visum results stated there were cuts on the left back of the head, tear in the lips, and bruises in the right eye suspected due to the hardness of blunt objects.

"He's likely being beaten, but it's still in the examination of witnesses," he added.

After the accident, the prison directly coordinated with Kotabaru Police to do security.

The searching was done in Block B, the result was found only four nail clippers. The police then took four inmates who evacuated the victim for questioning as witnesses.
