The Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Muhammad Rusli, held an audience on Local Service Delivery Improvement Project (LSDP) program with the Ministry of Home Affairs' Directorate General of Regional Development in Jakarta. It demonstrated his seriousness to improving the quality of regional environment and waste management.
"Throgh this program, waste will no more be a burden, but is processed into economically valuable product such as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), compost, animal feed, and other derivative products," he said.
In addition, the Kotabaru government through the Enviroment Office is preparing Detail Engineering Design (DED) document to buiding an integrated waste disposal (TPST) and landfill in Sidomulyo Village, Kelumpang Hulu Sub-district, in 2026.
The Regent and his team presented a waste management in Kotabaru related to LSDP program.
In response to the presentation, Director of Development Planning, Evaluatio and Information (PEIPD) Iwan Kurniawan said that Kotabaru has been in the list of potential recipient of LSDP program.
This is a positive signal that Kotabaru has a strong potential to become one of the regions receiving LSDP program, while addressing national challange in strengthening waste management system as well as opening up opportunities for green economic development in the region.
The Regent in the audience was accompanied by Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Innovation Agency (Bapperida) Rurien Srihardjanti, Head of Environment Office Melinda Ratna Agustina, Head of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Abdul Hamid, and other technical officials.
