Kotabaru, South Kalimantan 5/8 (AntaranewsKalsel) - A detainee entrusted by Kotabaru District Attorney, initial Rs (42), who has been eight days confined in a special cell was found lying on the floor of the toilet of Kotabaru Class IIB Penitentiary.
Head of the Prison Security Rahmat Pijati said on Saturday that another prisoner who was about to go to the toilet found the detainee in a face-down position and neck twisted with a cloth.
"I was on guard in the room, then someone yelled:" Commander, commander, someone fainted," he said.
The victim was taken to the bed in the cell by colleagues and rushed to the prison clinic. But when taken to Kotabaru District General Hospital he was declared dead.
"From the post mortem results there are no traces of trauma on the victim's neck, while in other body parts there are only minor injuries such as bumps on the forehead and blisters in the ears," he said.
This fact confuses the police to ensure the cause of the death of the victim. From the scene in the prison toilet, there is no place to hook the rope, if the victim hanged himself. In the CCTV recordings also not monitored if there was a fuss before the incident.
"We leave it to the police to continue, whether this is really suicide or there are other actions," he said.
After the incident, three inmates of Block K5 who first discovered and evacuated the victim have been examined as witnesses.
The victim was a resident of the Bangkalaan Dayak village, Sub-district of Kelumpang Hulu, Kotabaru. The State Attorney has entrusted his custody while awaiting trial on a drug-related case of Carnophen.
Since becoming a prison inmate on July 26, 2017, according to his colleagues, the victim did not want to mingle with other prisoners. The victim is known to have complained of illness, but only mild illness.
