Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarbaru Resort Police, South Kalimantan, arrested a specialist snatcher (jambret) and stealing by force (curat) because of possessing a German-made firearm.


Banjarbaru Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Kelana Jaya here on Thursday said legal proceedings were still carried out on LB's (18), a recidivist who was found possessing the dangerous object.

"We continue to develop the case, especially about where the suspect got it. His confession often changes," said police chief accompanied by Head of Crime Detective Unit A Andi Suryadi.

According to Andi, the suspect, who has been in and out of prisons three times, admitted having a gun type FN Sig Sauer P26 black since the beginning of 2016.

The weapon with no bullet was found by officers while searching the suspect's house four days after a jambret action in the Landasan Ulin area in the city.

"The suspect was secured by the people and the police officers of West Banjarbaru after doing snatching. When police developed the case and searched his house a gun was found," he said.

He stressed the possession of the firearm by the suspect is not impossible to commit a crime or sold to others.

"After all, if a criminal has a firearm, it has the potential to commit a crime using the weapon." Fortunately, it did not happen, "he said.

LB, who lives in Jalan Mekatani, Guntung Manggis Sub-district, is threatened with severe penalties due to possession of firearms made in foreign country.

"The suspect violated the Emergency Law due to possession of firearms with a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment, as well as Article 363 of the Criminal Code," he said.

In addition to arresting the suspect, the officer also secured his partner MN with a role in the action of mugging but failed until both were caught.
