The provincial government of South Kalimantan received the third best award for Disability-Inclusive Regional Government in Indonesia in 2025.

Acting Head of South Kalimantan Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Galuh Tantri Narindra stated that the achievement was due to collabaoration of cross-regional agencies in preparing data, programs, and concrete commitment during field evaluation and interviews.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), this award is the result of our hard work and commitment to realize inclusive development, especially in fulfilling the rights of people with disabilities,” she said when confirmed from Banjarmasin, Thursday.

She expounded that the assessment process went on in two stages. First, preparing administrative document covering  planning, policies and regional innovation, and the second deepening the aspects through field verification and interviews.

“The assessment team from National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), academics, journalists, and organization for people with disabilities directly confirmed our achievement,” she said.

The regional agencies involved in supporting the assessment included Bappeda, Social Affairs Office, Education and Culture Office, Health Office, Manpower Office, Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), and the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD).

South Kalimantan is the only region in Kalimantan to receive this award amidst the dominance of Java.

The award was received by Head of South Kalimantan Education and Culture Office and acting Head of South Kalimantan Development Planning Agency Galuh Tantri Narindra representing Governor Muhidin at the award ceremony in Durajaya Village, Cirebon District, West Java.

It was presented as a token of appreciation to the regional government for showing strong commitment in realizing inclusive development, especially in fulfilling the rights of disabilities.

This award was also a concrete proof of South Kalimantan Provincial Government's commitment in building inclusive governance, while emphasizing that the regional development must provide equal space for all level of society, including people with disabilities.
