Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Danau Panggang Police of North Hulu Sungai (HSU) caugh a fishman using a stun or electric current device that has been banned under the Fisheries Act.


"The perpetrator RH (18) was secured while fishing in the waters of the Longkong Village, Danau Panggang, HSU, on Wednesday morning," said HSU police public relation Second Inspector (Iptu) Alam in Amuntai on Wednesday.

The disclosure of illegal fishing action started from the public information that in the waters of Longkong Village swamps some fishermen catching fish by using stun.

Responding to the resentment of the residents, the Danau Panggang detective police directly investigating by undercover, surveillance and monitoring using jukung (small boat) fitted with motor.

On the day of fishing, the officer secured the perpetrator who was red-handed fishing using electric current from the genset machine on the boat.

"We also secured the perpetrator along with the evidences such as generators, stun devices and other equipment," ucalnya.

For his actions, the perpetrator who is Longkong villagers charged with Article 85 jo Article 9 of Law No 45/2009 on the amendment to Law No. 31/2004 on Fisheries.

Alam also reminded citizens to no longer use fishing gear which is prohibited by the state.
