Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Legislative Council (DPRD) Speaker Suwanti, accompanied by Deputy speaker I and II, held a hearing (RDP) with Aliansi Advokasi Rakyat untuk Nusantara (ARUN), KAPAK, Pemuda Revolusi, INSAN, KAHMI and TANI at the joint commission meeting room, Thursday.
During the hearing, coordinators of the various NGOs conveyed a number of demands.
Their main points included performance evaluation of the DPRD and a reduction in out-of-town travel budget for the council members, addressing the rampant illegal mining, and transparency in project management to eradicate allegations of ”fee” practices.

They demanded proctection for fishermen's fishing ground, environmental pollution by companies to be tackled and agrarian conflicts to be resolved.
"All aspiration expressed will be follow-up by the DPRD or (fowarded to) the Kotabaru Regional Government and other relevant agencies," said Suwanti in their meeting.
Suwanti stated the the results of the RDP were received as an input for an evaluation, both the demands against the DPRD and the district government.
Previously, the NGO groups held a rally at the front of the DPRD Kotabaru building and delivered speeches. Among them, ARUN Chairman Wahid Hasim voiced several demands and evaluated the DPRD's performance.
They demanded that the Kotabaru DPRD seriously oversee the budget and government performance.
