Martapura, South Kalimantan 25/6 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Four inmates of Banjarbaru Penitentiary Class III in South Kalimantan were granted early release on Eid ul-Fitr 1438 Hijri.


Head of the Banjarbaru Penitentiary Heriansyah here on Sunday said four inmates who were released received a special remission II (RK2).

"Four inmates are free immediately after receiving a sentence cut to coincide with the Eid ul-Fitr," he said.

He said the actual number of inmates who entitled an immediately release were 12, but eight of them are still serving an additional punishment (subsidair) for not paying a fine.

If they pay a fine in accordance with the amount imposed, then they can immediately enjoy the freedom because the sentence ends.

According to him, the number of inmates proposed to receive special remission I (RK1) are 143 and RK2 recipients 12 inmates, bringing the total number of 155 inmates receiving Eid remissions.

The reduction of the sentence period against convicts receiving RK1 varies between 15 days to two months after the term of the sentence has been passed.

"Remission is given depending on the duration of the sentence has been served and remission is the right of inmate who has shown good behavior during the sentence," he said.

According to him, Banjarbaru prison is still quite loose because the total number of inmates is 539 people spread over five blocks from 10 blocks available.
