The Government of Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, collaborates with Gajah Mada University (UGM) Yogyakarta to support priority program of producing intelligent and quality human resources.
Regent of Tabalong H Muhammad Noor Rifani said this collaboration provides wider opportunities for people in "Bumi Saraba Kawa" (Tabalong's nickname) to study at state university.
"We are making efforts to produce 1,000 graduates to improve human resources who are able to improve people's welfare and regional progress," Noor Rifani noted in a press statement released by Tabalong Communication and Informatics Office, Wednesday.
The signing of cooperation by Tabalong Regent and UGM Deputy Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service and Alumni Arie Sujito was held at UGM Rectorate Office in Yogyakarta, Tuesday (May 27, 2025).

Their agreement is not only related to scholarship for regional delegation, but also includes the placement of students for Community Service Program (KKN) and research.
"We hope this agreement to be implemented and established well, so we can produce sons and daughters who are ready to build and advance the region," added the Regent.
Students from Tabalong who are currently studying at UGM are asked to complete their studies even though a new agreement is made.
UGM Deputy Rector Arie Sujito said that UGM does not only belong to Yogya or people of Java, but also to Tabalong, to the people of Indonesia.
“UGM expands opportunities by at least 25 percent for people outside Java and we do not feel far from the Province of South Kalimantan,” he said.
Since 1949, UGM has had a people's commitment and is now expanding the KKN area to cover 35 provinces in Indonesia.
In one year, UGM releases thousands of its KKN students outside the region four times.
Not only with the regional government, UGM also establishes partnership with alumni in the regions and other state and private universities.
The signing of agreement was also attended by Tabalong DPRD Speaker Riza Fahlipi, Commander of 1008 Tabalong Military Command Lt. Col. Inf.
