Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - An object similar to a bomb that horrendous
the city of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Wednesday afternoon, was not a bomb after being decomposed by a team of bomb disposal squad (gegana).


Chief of Banjarbaru Police AKBP Kelana Jaya here on Friday said the suspected bomb which was placed in one corner of the Banjarbaru roundabout was not a bomb.

"The shape is physically like a bomb in black plastic bags twisted with cable, so if viewed from the outside like a bomb, but it has been parsed was not a bomb," he said.

He said the preliminary information was received from the community at around 14.15 pm to the Simpang Empat Banjarbaru police station about an object suspected as bomb.

The report was followed up by the officer by going to the location and finding the object in one corner of the roundabout. The distance was about 50 meters from Simpang Empat gas station (SPBU).

"We are asking for assistance of the gegana of South Kalimantan Mobile Brigade Police to check whether or not it was a bomb. It apparently not a bomb and it has been destroyed," said chief police.

But he said, before the object destroyed by gegana, the roundabout area was sterilized by closing the flow of traffic to ensure the suspicious object not dangering people.

"The traffic flow was temporarily closed to ensure bombs or not and the sterilization of the area was within 100 meters to avoid impact if it is a bomb," he said.

Head of Gegana First Inspectur (Iptu) Sunardi said the handling was done by decomposing ie triggering the explosion if it is indeed a bomb.

"We do the decomposition by triggering it, if it's a bomb it will cause an explosion, but only a small explosion signifies not a bomb," he said.

Meanwhile, material objects that allegedly a bomb were taken to the Banjarbaru police for further checking. It contained cardboard wrappers, red wires and white plastic bottle.
