Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru District of South Kalimantan Province needs five artificial dam (embung) as reservoir to address the shortage of clean water during the dry season.
"We still need three more dams to overcome the drought for up to five months," said Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar at the peak of the 67th anniversary of Kotabaru on Wednesday.
Currently the district already has two embungs, but to meet the needs of clean water during the drought it requires three more.
He said the district plans to develop three reservoirs, namely the reservoir of Mount Perak, the reservoir of Mount Ulin 2, and the Gunung Tirawan with Kotabaru's 2018 and 2019 budgets.
Sayed Jafar expects support from the central government, in this case the Ministry of Public Works to continue the program.
The Mount Perak dam is planned to have a capacity of 250,000 cubic meters, and is now in the process of Detail Engineering Design (DED), as well as environmental documents. Land acquisition will be implemented in 2017, and physical construction by 2018.
Furthermore, Mount Ulin 2 reservoir is planned to have a capacity of about 250 thousand cubic meters, while the process of making DED, land acquisition, and environmental documents to be in 2018, and physical construction is planned in 2019.
Mount Mandin reservoir, projected to have a capacity of 250 thousand cubic meters, is currently producing DED, while land acquisition and environmental documents and physical construction will be in 2018.
Currently Kotabaru already has two dams, namely the Ulin Mountain dam built around 2007 using APBD funds already operated and will still be improved by building a water gate.
Then the dam of Mount Tirawan with a capacity of 250 thousand cubic meters has been completed and will be operated by the end of 2017.
