A member of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Legislative Council (DPRD) from Gerindra Faction, Rustam Efendi, conducted the first phase of recess in Dirgahayu Village, Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district.

"This activity is to gather community aspiration and explore urgent needs that have not been accomodated in regional development program," said Rustam Efendi in Kotabaru, Monday.

He said the importance of recess as a forum for community to convey complaints and proposals for the development that benefit the village.

"This recess is very useful because it allows villages to be open in expressing their needs. If village fund cannot cover a certain development, we can try to use recess fund," he said.

Chief of neighborhood unit of RT 24 highlighted floods problems that often hit the area and hopes that there will be allocation of fund for the construction of drainage and road paving which has not been covered.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Village Consultative Body (BPD) of Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district, Nasaruddin, proposed Dirgahayu Village office renovation to provide an optimum services to the community.

Head of Dirgahayu Village, Lukman Nur Hakim, said that his party has submitted several proposals, including paving road in RT 19 and building drilled wells for residents clean water needs.

Responding to various proposals, Rustam Efendi asked chiefs of RT to pepare detailed proposals according to rules, complete with pictures and cordinates so they could be further considered.

"The proposals submitted today will be a priority for realization in 2026. So, please submit proposals that are really needed so they can be adjuted with the available budget," he expounded.

He also informed that all proposals collected will be discussed at the Kotabaru DPRD plenary meeting.

On this occasion, Rustam Efendi also highlighted the house renovation program for underprivileged residents.

He said in 2023 a total 450 houses had been renovated in several villages, including Seblimbingan, Megasari, Tirawan, and Pulau Laut Timur.
