Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Vice Regent Burhanuddin said problems that Kotabaru faces today can be directly heard by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).


"Thank God with the sending of a team of National Security Council (Wantanas) to Kotabaru, all problems here can be delivered directly to the president through the team," said Burhanuddin in Kotabaru, Friday.

Wantanas is an organization chaired by President Jokowi. One of its tasks is to make studies for president.

Burhanuddin said, there are some strategic issues Kotabaru facing submitted to through Wantanas, including infrastructure issues. Most roads here currently in a severely damaged condition. It causes disruption flow of transport and hamper goods and services distribution.

Another problem is only 50 percent of Kotabaru population get electricity. Construction of substation and interconnection network from PLTU Asam-asam to Kotabaru should be accelerated to encourage economic growth and food security.

Vice regent added a strong determination of Kotabaru to be a regional, national, and even international tourist destination need to support by standard airport.

Another problem need to noted by the President, he said, is the support of the central government to create Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Mekar Putih, West Pulaulaut.

It has long designed by the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) to become SEZ. Therefore, it needs the support of the relevant ministries, while optimizing the role of private sector.
