Chairman of Kotabaru DPRD's Commission III Jerry Lumenta encouraged Kotabaru government to adopt technology-based policies by applying modern school.

"Nowadays everyone uses technology, so I hope that modern school can be implemented in Kotabaru," he said.

Lumenta made his remarks related to the district's human development index (HDI) ranking, which occupies 11th position out of 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan Province.

He encouraged the district government through the Education Office to strive to improve the quality of HDI.

He opined that the establishment of digital-based school is the right step by providing infrastructure and supported by human resources, which will have a positive impact on future generation in Kotabaru.

"We will try to coordinate with related agencies for modern school etablishmen, and we can discuss the financing both in Commission III or DPRD in general," he said.

He regrets that Kotabaru as a district with high local revenue (PAD) and is known to be rich in natural resources, but it is not accompanied by an increase in HDI.

Meanwhile, massive development in tourism and infrastructure sectors is carried out by the local government.

Lumenta hopes some of contributions of thought can be accepted and become the basis for improving human resources in Kotabaru for the next generation who are reliable and ready to compete with other districts.
