Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 16/1 (AntaranewsKalsel) - Head of Banjarmasin Public Works Agency (PU) Gusti Ridwan Sofyan revealed the city is very difficult to meet the availability of green open space (RTH), which by law 30 percent of the total area.

Thus, he said here on Monday, Banjarmasin need to hold the neighboring areas to improve RTH compliance in accordance with Law No.26/2007 on fulfillment of the district and city green space of at least 30 percent of the total area.

"Yes, hope we can hold our neighbors to meet this, because the land in our area does not allow to meet it any time, because of it narrowness," he explained.

According to Ridwan, the capital of province is almost 75 percent crowded with construction, while the total extent of the area is not reached 100 square kilometers.

He also has a thought  that Banjarmasin is flanked by two very broad areas, namely Banjar and Barito Kuala district. With these two regions it can cooperate to meet green space obligation together.

"We mean, the areas bordering the Banjarmasin can be developed into green space together. That's if the rules allowing," said Ridwan.

Because, he said, the regulations for the availability of green space of at least 30 percent needs to be revised, especially for Banjarmasin, which is almost impossible to make it happen.

"In addition to the city government should provide a bigger fund, we have no more land available to provide," he explained.

Up to now Banjarmasin could not fulfil 10 percent of green open space. How it come to 30 percent, although it shares 10 percent for local government and the rest would be on society.

"Because it seem impossible to provide the land and city government only maximizes space along riversides and small part of city forest," he said.
