Cooperative, Micro Business, Trade and Industry Office (Diskumdagri) of the Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan, is striving to restrain inflation, especially in food, ahead of Ramadhan 2024.

"One of our efforts is by holding low price markets on national religious holidays (HBKN) in several sub-districts in Tanah Bumbu," said head of the office Hamaluddin Tahir here on Thursday.

On Thursday, low price market is held in Rejosari Village, Mentewe Sub-district, and in other sub-districts were held from February 19 to March 7, 2024.

Head of Trade and Metrology of Diskumdagri Hariansyah said here sugar is sold at a price of Rp17,000 per kg, cooking oil Rp16,000 per liter, margarine Rp5,000 per pack, canned biscuit Rp25,000, and coffee Rp23,000 per pack.

Flour Rp12,000 per kg, egg Rp55,000 per rack, and rice Rp57,.000 per five kg sack.

"This price is cheaper than the price on the market, with average difference of Rp1,000 to Rp2,500 for each item," said Harianyah.

The low price market will be held in 12 sub-districts in Tanah Bumbu on rotating basis in March 2024.

Hariansyah said that the low price market is a concrete government's role in assisting people to get basic needs at affordable prices as well as to prevent food inflation in "Bumi Bersujud" (Tanah Bumbu's nickname).

Diskumdagri involves TP PKK, Fisheries Office, Food Security and Agriculture Office, DWP, PT Wing Food, and PT Indofood to make low price market successful and sustainable.

"Alhamdulillah (Thank God) people are very enthusiastic about coming to low price market we held . This is one of our office mainstay activities held every year continously, because activities like this are always awaited by the community," said Hariansyah.
