The Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, vocational Training Center provides training for rural communities in Sebamban Lama village, Sebamban Baru Village, Hatiif Village, and Tri Martini Village so they can work for themselves.

"They are trained to sew adult women's clothing through community development and empowermen program (PPM) which is funded by PT Borneo Indobara (BIB)," said Head of Tanah Bumbu BLK Riza Akhyari in Batulicin, Thursday.

In the first stage, he said, 11 people are trained for one and a half month regularly from Monday to Friday. The next stage will be implemented after Eid al-Fitr 2024.

Training cooperation with a company is considered to increase the growth in number of skilled workers in the district efforts to alleviate unemployment rate.

This kind of cooperation pattern, according to him, should be able to be implemented by other companies, so that people's skill level become more competitive and able to fill the available jobs.

Empowerment and Development Dept Head of PT BIB Silvyna Aditia said this program is the company's social responsibility through PPM. One of which by providing sewing training for people living around the company.

According to her, sewing business opportunity is very large. Many companies in Tanah Bumbu, such as plantation and mining, require uniforms for their employees.

"Thankfully, the village through their BUMDes (village-owned enterprise) could coordinate, so that sewing become one of BUMDes's business units, whose members are participants who completed this sewing training," she said.
