Acting Regent of Tapin, South Kalimantan Province, Syarifuddin, alloted chili pepper to Salam Babaris village residents, during his touring ride on dirt bike to some villages, to curb inflation.

"Today we distribute hot pepper seeds as an effort to curb inflation in the region," he said in Salam Babaris Village, Tapin, Thursday.

Syarifuddin said that cayenne pepper commodity recently becomes the contributor to inflation in the region.

Statstic agency recorded South Kalimantan's monthly inflation in December 2023 stood at 0.18 percent with cigarette (0.35%) as the highest contributor, and hot pepper only 0.09%.

"Chili pepper can be planted in home garden together with vegetables, so it is no longer difficult to find them," he said.

Inflation causes prices of a number of commodities, including chili pepper, to rise on the market, so growing people own can be an alternative for their needs.

"Hopefully what we provide can be useful for the community," he said.

The Regent also distributed other plants, such as crystal guava seeds, to a number of residents.

There were also other assistance that the Tapin District Government provided when touring, namely trucks for transporting garbage and basic necessities.
