Bandung, West Java (AntaranewsKalsel) - The fourth gold medal was obtained by wrestling contingent of South Kalimantan donated by Brian Akbar at the National Sports Week (PON) XIX 2016 in West Java.
Brian Akbar who competed in the 71 Kg class Brego roman style defeated his opponent Andri, host wrestler, in the final match that took place in GOR Saparua, Bandung, on Wednesday.
Brian closed the fourth gold medal obtained by the South Kalimantan is ranked fourth out of 25 provinces. The top were West Java, East Kalimantan, and East Java.
General Chairman of the Wrestling Association of Indonesia (PGSI) South Kalimantan Mohammad Welny stated, four gold medals earned by South Kalimantan is very good, although not fulfulling the target.
"Until the end of this wrestling gives 15 medals, consisting of four gold medals, three silver medals and eight bronze medals," he said.
Even if counted, he said, wrestling is the most contributor of medals for South Kalimantan. Total achievements obtained by the province as many as 35 medals, with details of nine gold medals, ten silver and 16 bronze medals.
Welny said South Kalimantan position is ranked 16th of throughout the province.
