Head of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office of Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan, Suri Sudarmadiyah said that the city is ready to begin the construction of the 9th bridge on Martapura River this year.

"The IDR26 billion budget for the contruction has been prepared," she said here on Wednesday.

The bridge, which will connect two areas, Sungai Jingah and Sungai Bilu, will be built with concrete construction. "It is the same as other bridges on that river," said Suri.

Previously, Head of Bridge and Road of the PUPR Office Dedy Hamdani said that the bridge is important to build to break up heavy traffic flow in the two areas, Sungai Jingah in North Banjarmasin and Sungai Bilu in East Banjarmasin.

Suri said, the construction of the bridge with a span of more than 100 meters requires a budget of IDR98 billion for physical construction.

"That does not include land acquisition which is estimated at IDRp25 billion to make the total around IDR125 billion," she said.

The construction of the bridge will be carried out in stages according to the city financial capabilities, thus Suri cannot yet state the completion target, but the city government is committed to it as soon as possible.
 
The 2024 pure budget will be used for initial stages of physical construction of foundation on river bank. "Later in the revised budhet we will propose for the next stages," she said.

The Sungai Jingah-Sungai Bilu bridge has been listed as a priority in the Banjarmasin's Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD).
