The Tanah Laut District Government, South Kalimantan, through the local Health Office has provided health insurance to 123,495 underprivileged residents through the state health insurer BPJS Kesehatan, a health office official said. 

"BPJS Kesehatan participation for disadvantaged residents is funded by the Tanah Laut government based on data," said Secretary of Tanah Laut Health Office Arli in Pelaihari, Wednesday.

This program, he said, is strongly supported by the government and the legislature of Tanah Laut, becaue it really touches the community directly.

"Disadvantaged residents should not be afraid to seek treatment at community health services (puskesmas) or the regional public hospitals. If you find difficulties, please contact Social Office or Health Office in Tanah Laut," he said.

The Tanah Laut Health Office has prepared 24 puskesmas and two local government's general hospital to provide health service for residents.

"In fact, we have added two new puskesmas in Panggung Village and Durian Bungkuk Village," he expounded.

Of the 24 puskesmas owned by the local government, he said, six have been accredited paripurna (the highest accreditation) and the rest are being accredited.

For residents who live in remote villages, they can access supporting community health centers (puskesmas pembantu/pustu).

In providing services, the Tanah Laut Health Office also pays attention to human resources for health workers.

"Especially for emergencies, we have PSC 119 unit. People can use it when emergency occurs, road accidents or resaidents do not have hospital validity can use PSC 119 which works 24 hours," he explained.

Then, he continued, related to stunting the Tanah Laut Health Office is making efforts to reduce the rate from 26 percent in 2022  to 18 percent in 2023.

"The problems of stunting is our shared responsibility. Our target is that the stunting rate in Tanah Laut would fall to 18 percent, hopefully it will be achieved," he said.
