Regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, Zairullah Azhar motivated hundreds of the integrated health post (posyandu) cadres, who he said have a noble role, in serving the community.
"The profession as posyandu cadre is very noble. They have a powerful and extraordinary role for taking care of pregnant women, babies, and elderly," said Zairullah in Batulicin, Friday.
He then quoted a Prophet Muhammad's hadith that the best humans are those who provide benefits to other humans. It moved and motivated him to pay attention to the cadres.
Posyandu cadres are said to really help the local government, especially in the effots of reducing stunting rate in "Bumi Bersujud" (nickname of Tanah Bumbu).
The district government then decided to increase their incentive by Rp100,000 to become Rp500,000 per month.
The district government also provided a competency orientation for them. It was attended by 400 cadres and 40 assistant from eight community health centers (puskesmas) in Tanah Bumbu.
"So that they can increase capacity for the integrated primary health services in the work area," explained the Regent, who was accompanied by Regional Secretary Ambo Sakka and Secretary of Health Office Arman.
There are 25 competencies that posyandu cadres must know, one of which is skill in managing integrated health center.
