President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited the United States to make utmost efforts to put an end to Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, to contribute to the realization of global peace.

According to the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Tuesday, President Jokowi personally invited US President Joe Biden to placate the raging armed conflicts in Gaza during their bilateral meeting at the White House, Washington D.C., on Monday (November 13) at local time.

"Indonesia is expecting our partnership (between Indonesia and the US) to contribute to peace at the regional and global levels," Jokowi told Biden.

At the meeting, President Jokowi also encouraged his US counterpart to invest even greater efforts to stop the conflict and atrocities currently occurring in the besieged Gaza Strip.

"These events hit mankind very hard," he accentuated.

He then placed emphasis on the importance of putting a ceasefire in place for the sake of upholding the values of humanity.

Jokowi also told Biden that the United States is one of the most important partners of Indonesia while adding that both countries agreed to elevate their partnership to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership (CSP).

"But most importantly, we have to give a real meaning to it (CSP) because to Indonesia, economic cooperation is a priority, including in supply chain issues," he remarked.

President Biden, on his part, stated that the enhancement of partnership between the two countries marked a new era for their cooperation in various fields, including security.

He went on to say that Indonesia and the United States will continue to collaborate in building a safe supply chain and handling climate change.

The 46th president of the US observed that Indonesia could play a vital role in clean energy transition.

Biden then stated his commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the United States and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to realize a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.

He also lauded Indonesia for its chairmanship in the ASEAN this year.

Indonesia is one of the countries whose foreign ministers have been mandated by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to initiate immediate international action to formulate an international move to halt the war in Gaza.

The mandate was outlined in the resolution adopted by member countries of the OIC and Arab League during the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit that took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 11.
