Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor and acting Regent of South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Hermansyah attended the Bina Baru Farmers Group rice harvest thanksgiving in Siang Gantung village, Daha Barat sub-district.
"We appreciate the Governor presence and thank the farmers in HSS District, especially Bina Baru Farmers Group (Poktan), for their extraordinary harvest despite being faced with difficulti climate and ecological challanges this year," Hermansyah remarked here, Tuesday.
The total rice ready to be harvest in Daha Barat reached 3,612 hectares, 490 hectares of which were harvested by Bina Baru in Siang Gantung Village, was a proof of hard work and dedication of farmers in this region.
He reminded the importance of sustainable ecosystem in maintaining regional food security, overcoming climate and ecologal challanges, and the need for cooperation from all parties.

Governor H Sahbirin Noor welcomed the harvest thanksgiving and appreciated farmers group of Siang Gantung Village for the success achieved.
He hopes that this harvest will not only provide financial benefits for farmers, but also increase the income of local communities.
"This harvest celebration can be an important milestone in strengthening the regional food security, and can even contribute to national food security," said the Governor who is familiarly called Uncle Biriin.
He also invited all parties to remain alert to the risk of wildfires, which is currently a major threat to the province, including HSS Regency.
All element of society are asked to work together to maintain the sustainability of the ecosystem, we well as maintaining food security for future generation.
