Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Some students of the Faculty of Engineering University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) are now making the water village in the Seberang Masjid Village to be a beautiful village.
A lecturer of Architecture Department of Faculty of Engineering ULM Dr. Ira Mentayani to AntaranewsKalsel here Wednesday said her party wishes to make the area to be a beautiful village was responded by the Banjarmasin Mayor Ibnu Sina positively.
This activity aims to raise the potential of the river in the city of Banjarmasin through the improvement, restructuring, and put straight visual buildings along the river.
The activities included doing painting of 40 riverbank houses, including five lanting house (the house on the raft) with sasirangan motifs in accordance with the character of the sasirangan village. Sasirangan is a local typical cloth motifs.
A bigger target to be achieved from this program is public participation. Public participation is crucial to grow to increase public awareness of the environment around them.
Therefore ULM mobilizes all the existing potential in the community, ranging from local residents and communities that care about the environment and city development.
"We should be grateful since the start of operations public participation is very high, as evidenced at the time of dissemination activities up till now the process of working on the ground," she said.
The communities that joined forces with lecturers, alumni and student of architecture of ULM are the Community of Volunteer Love (Komunitas Relawan Cinta), I Love Banjarmasin, Community Hands Down, Kotaku community and the community of students of the Faculty of Social Politics Student Association ULM.
