The Public Housing and Settlement Areas Office (Disperkim) of Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, announced that the district has a quota for forest area release of around 3,000 hectares.

"Tabalong's quota for forest area release is around 3,000 hectares and since 2014 we have proposed an enclave," said Head of Land Division of the Office Rahmi Muthmainah here on Tuesday.

The release of forest areas is implemented to convert the designation of production forest areas to non-forest areas.

Rahmi said there are 39 villages in seven sub-districts that are included in the forest area, namely the sub-districts of Muara Uya, Murung Pudak, Upau, Bintang Ara, Jaro, Haruai, and Tanjung.

The unproductive forest (HPK) area is in Tanjung Sub-district covering 1,361.3 hectares and in Bintang Ara 81.37 hectares.

For transmigration settlements along with social and public facilities that have received approval in principle for the release of forest areas in Muara Uya is 167.59 hectares and Bintang Ara 373.38 hectares.

Previously, the Tabalong Regency Government had disseminated inventory and verification of land tenure settlement in the context of forest area arrangement which was attended by village heads.

Head of the Government of the Tabalong Regional Secretariat Gusti Judid Ihsan Permana said that village heads and sub-district heads whose areas are included in the forest area can take advantage of the quota from the Center for Forest Area Stabilization and Environmental Management.

"Forest area release can be done through proposals from communities or villages, so this quota must be utilized," Judis explained.

Furthermore, the field verification team will conduct file checks related to the application for forest area release in Tabalong in October 2023.

The completeness of the application includes a recapitulation of the list of applicants, a collective sketch of the land, a statement letter of physical control of the land plot and an integrity pact of the village head.

These requirements refer to Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 7 of 2021 and Presidential Regulation Number 88 of 2017 concerning forestry planning, changes in forest area designation and changes in forest area functions and use of forest areas.
