The Regional Inflation Control Teams (TPID) of Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, was nominated nationally as the three best performing districts/cities in controlling inflation in Kalimantan in 2022.

Tabalong Regent H Anang Syakhfiani expressed his gratitude that the district's TPID was nominated as the Top 3 National best performing and it is the third year that Tabalong TPID considered the best performer.

“In 2020 period our inflation was recorded the second lowest in Indonesia," Anang noted in a press statement through Tabalong Communication and Informatics Office (Diskominfo), Friday.

Based on the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Tabalong's  inflation in December 2022 stood at 0.48 percent (month to month) with a yearly (year to year) inflation of 5.01 percent.

The district government intervened prices by holding low-price market and intensified the National Movement to Control Food Inflation (GNPIP) by increasing agricultural and horticultural productivity to control inflation as well as  inter-regional cooperation and various breakthrough and innovations.

The very influencing breakthrough was Julak Wasi (which stands for online motorcycle driver selling vegetables, basic food, and fish to control inflation) to support food distribution and price stability. 

The success of Tabalong TPID in controlling inflation in 2022 also led the South Kalimantan TPID of becoming the best performance province in controlling inflation in the Kalimantan Region 2022.

“This shows that we in Tabalong have contributed to the progress of South Kalimantan Province," Anang added.

The announcement of the best performing TPID was held at the 2023 Inflation Control National Working Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (August 31, 2023).

President Joko Widodo in his remarks on controlling inflation in 2023 said that Indonesia's inflation in July 2023 stood at 3.08 percent.

“Inflation is very important and we can control it with three important strategies, namely monetary, fiscal policy, and anticipating real condition in the field," he said.
