Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Some workers who were digging on Jalan Sudirman Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, suddenly found an ancient cannon weapon about two meters in the ground.
"When I dug suddenly my hooker hit a hard object. Thought it was plumbing pipe, once excavated it turned out to be a cannon," said Suparno, digger worker who found it the first time on Monday.
He said there were three workers doing excavations at the site, and the cannon was first discovered around 15:00 pm.
"This findings we report to a supervisor, I do not know any more after that," he said.
According to him, the location of the cannon was about two meters from the surface and it was very rusty. "Wanted to lift it manually, but we could not," he said.
Committing Officer Head of Banjarmasin Highways Chandra IW said upon the discovery of the ancient cannon weapon, it has been coordinating with the police. "Earlier the police had come to see," he said.
When viewed condition, said Chandra, this cannon gun about three meters in length, it estimated from the Dutch time.
"We do not know yet to who it will be submitted later, maybe tomorrow (Tuesday) to be lifted with heavy equipment," he said.
He admitted, with the discovery of the ancient cannon in the project area, excavations at that point was forced to stop before it stated sterill.
