The Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Agency of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is building a reservoir with a capacity of 7,000 m3 in Lintang Jaya Village, Pamukan Utara Sub-district.
"The reservoir that is built in Lintang Jaya Village has a capacity of about 7,000 m3," said Head of Water Resources and Health Environment of the agency Hasbiyanta in Kotabaru, Monday.
The facility, he said, aims to serve as raw water reservoir for clean water need of the community in the village, which has 300 households. The work using the 2023 budget.
"We hope that the construction of the reservoir can add ra water services and become a water reserve to meet the needs of the local community at certain times," he said.
He acknowledged that several villages in the district, including Lintang Jaya, Pamukan Utara, geographycally have no potential water resources that can be utilized throughout the year, so that rain-fed containers such us reservoirs are built.
"Efforts to provide raw water is one of important things in the community," he pointed out.

Hasbi hopes that the construction of reservoir will be able to provide a good impact on the surrounding community not only to meet human needs but also to fulfillment of needs in agriculture and others.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said that government will provide clean water for the community as an anticipatory step against drought caused by the El Nino phenomenon.
"We will support water supply, especially for the grassroots community in the form of clean and drinking water," he informed in Jakarta, Wednesday (July 5, 2023).
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has already mapped out areas that have the potential for drought and forest fires, he added. An intervention will be carried out in these areas to minimize the impact of El Nino.
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) stated that water harvesting conducted during the rainy season can be one of the efforts to adapt to climate anomalies.
