Pulau Laut Sigam Community Health Center (puskesmas) in collaboration with PT Arutmin Indonesia NPLCT provides psychological education to pregnant women to prevent stunting in six working areas of the puskesmas.
"We are greatly helped by the program of education and healthy pregnancy toward a stunting free generation," Head of Sigam Puskesmas dr. M Ikbal noted in a written statement in Kotabaru, Tuesday.
Not only counseling and education are provided, pregnant women also receive additional nutritional intake.
"Puskesmas received support from PT Arutmin NPLCT in conducting counseling and providing additional nutrition food once a month," said Ikbal.
Pregnant women also receive free ultrasound examination services from obstetricians brought from the Pangeran Jaya Sumitra General Hospital (RSUD) Kotabaru.
"This is already the second month in implementation, and every month there are 20 pregnant women participants," he said.
The wife of the CEO of Arutmin Indonesia, Sandra Maureen Hutabarat, said counseling for pregnant women and providing nutritional additional intake is very important to minimize the birth of stunted children.
"Preventing stunting is important, healthy pregnant women leads to healthy Indonesia," said Sandra.
She also conveyed that Arutmin would play an active role in helping the community through the health center to fight stunting, conduct counseling, education on nutritious breast milk for pregnant women.
On the occasion, Sandra gave a gift in the form of
additional food for pregnant women in the Pulau Laut Sigam Health Center hall.
Meanwhile, one of the education participants, a resident of Gedambaan, Mama Sasra, admitted that she was very happy with this activity because she knew how to handle and prevent stunting.
"In addition to the knowledge obtained, the condition of the baby in the womb can also be controlled through free ultrasound," she said.
She hopes this program to take place periodically and socialization in Arutmin's assisted villages.
