Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Two students of he state hing school SMAN 1 Jorong, Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, successfully developed a simple cycle power plant from electronic waste materials with a capacity of 1,000 watts.

"The simple power plant is the work of Hairudin and Budi Rahman, two students of senior high school grade XI IPA (natural science) SMAN 1 Jorong by the help of KIR tutor," said Karyati, a tutor of Scientific Group of Youth (KIR) SMAN 1 Jorong in Pelaihari, Wednesday.

According to him, the creating of a simple power plant originated from a complaint of their students who can not learn, because of frequent electricity outages.

The school then encourages students to continue to be creative in order they are able to keep learning, uninterrupted by outages of electricity.

At first, she recalled, simple cycle power plant was only able to turn on the lights, but after the development it was able to supply up to 1,000 watts. 

The simple cycle power plants, she said, was then able to turn on fan, television until blender.

In fact, the working power of the simple cycle, he said, not noisy like a generator, it is easy and practical to use.

KIR SMAN 1 Jorong not only create a simple cycle power. The students also managed to make a wide range of research work, among other things, a simple respirators for insects, shredded from dragon fruit skin, and dodol of jackfruit skin.

Regent Bambang Alamsyah said he was happy with the work of students of SMAN 1 Jorong. In connection with the successful development of a simple cycle power plant, he said, local governments continue to support research that can boast Tanah Laut future.

At least, he said, Tanah Laut regency will support what is needed, so that a simple cycle power plant can be improved better.

"If a simple cycle power plant has been improved, it will be used in my office room and other government agencies," he said.
