The South Kalimantan Health Office has recorded more that 600 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the province, with six death.
"DHF cases continue to be found in every month, no decrease no increase, even this April, we all must be vigilant," said Head of South Kalimantan Health Office dr Diauddin in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.
Based on the office data, 672 people were infected with DHF virus, which caused by Aedes aegypti mosquito, from the beginning of the year to the end of March.
"Six of them died, this is said," said Diauddin.
Three cases of death due to DHF were registered from Banjarmasin City three people, Banjar Regency two people, and one from Tapin Regency.
"The highest cases in the province is in Banjar Regency with 166 cases and Banjarbaru City 108 cases," he expounded.
While other areas, North Hulu Sungai 76, Central Hulu Sungai 68, Tanah Laut 53, Banjarmasin 47.
Then South Hulu Sungai 44, Tanah Bumbu 35, Kotabaru 29, Barito Kuala 21, Balangan 15.
"The lowest in Tapin is 7 cases, but one died, while Balangan recorded only three cases," Diauddin said.
According to him, DHF cases in the province have not decreased because the weather is sometimes hot sometimes it rains pushing high breeding of aedes aegypti mosquito.
"So everyone must be vigilant, clean the environment, don't let there be places where mosquitoes breed," he reminded.
If anyone is indicated to have DHF with high body heat accompanied by red spots on arms or others, immediately take him or her to the hospital or health center.
"Don''t be late, if there is case, report it immediately for mosquito eradication by health workers," said Diauddin.
