Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Two Trans Kalimantan bridges in the Kotabaru collapsed due to flood occurred in the sub-district of West Pamukan.


Head of Social Rehabilitation at the Social, Manpower and Transmigration Agency Ahmad Muslim on Wednesday said the two bridges made of concrete and iron.

In order community activities not to be disrupted, Muspika (local consultative forum) of West Pamukan performed temporary repairs by landfill to the ground by way of self-help.

"The 60-meter iron bridge in a tilted state about 15 degrees, and will continue to lopsided, because one of the concrete foundation was broken," said Muslim.

He explained the 60-meter iron bridge on the Samihin River has not collapsed, but in the danger of collapse. Its position is skewed after broken hit by piling logs which dragged by flood from direction of Meratus.

In addition to one of the foundation pillars broken, about seven meters Samihin bridge also collapsed due to the floods eroded.

"The bridge several years ago had also been eroded by the flood and collapsed," said Muslim.

He expects the West Pamukan Muspika urged people to not play on the bridge which is in tilted condition and increases skewed.

Meanwhile, due to heavy rain which occurred on Tuesday (10/5) in the District of West Pamukan, Village Batuah, Mangka and Sengayam were flooded due to overflow of the Samihin River.

The accident caused 929 inhabitants of 254 families become victims, three of them, namely Jali (21), a resident of Sengayam, a motorcyclist, Uti (25), a resident of Batuah, and a 67 years old grandmother, also citizen of Batuah, died.

In addition to causing three casualties, the floods have also caused 254 houses damaged, 22 houses of which were severely damaged and 232 lightly damaged.
