Some part of the City of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan Province, are now being inundated by rob floodings due to high sea tides accompanied by quite high rain intensity.
 
"Especially the riverside and coastal areas," said Head of Banjarmasin Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Husni Thamrin here on Monday.
 
Rob floodings that usually come in the afternoon, he said, causing 5 to 30 centimeters puddle.
 
Mantuil and Pulau Bromo in South Banjarmasin, Banua Anyarin East Banjarmasin, and Sungai Miai in North Banjarmasin are among the areas inundated by tidal floods.
 
Thamrin said, the condition of tidal flood was still relatively safe, because it only inundated the road.
 
There was almost no reports or monitoring or areas experiencing severe inundation that soaked into the house.
 
However, he asked the public to remain vigilant, especialy people who live on the banks of the river and appealed to residents to cleaning their environment, especially waterways from trash.
 
"When the tide ends, the puddle recede quickly," he said.
 
According to Thamrin, the city is still in the alert status for flood and high tides, so that emergency equipments are continued to be readied.
 
Meanwhile, BPBD officers keep on monitoring river water condition for 24 hours.
 
"In turn our officers control the condition of water level, especially during high tide," he said.
 
Based on forecast from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophyisics (BMKG) of South Kalimantan with phenomenon of new moon phase results in a number of areas in Banjarmasin City, especially riverside area, affecterd by sea tide which will take place February 18-24, 2023.
